Midgetech - Official UK distributors of the Mosquito Magnet
My partner and I are both veterinary surgeons and have pet llamas, ponies and sheep. I suffer from organophosphate poisoning and therefore we do not use pesticides on our animals. We live in south-west Scotland and midges are a problem here. They cause much distress to the animals, particularly during the mornings and evenings.
We started using a Midge Machine this year, and it has caught a huge number of midges and greatly reduced the amount of discomfort and irritation caused to all the animals.
We would recommend Midge Machines to owners of all grazing animals in areas with a midge problem, especially owners of ponies which suffer from sweet itch (midge allergy). It would play a large part in control of this common and extremely distressing condition.
Midge Machines would also be of particular benefit to organic farmers and smallholders (a reasonably large number of livestock could be gathered in the early evening, to an area protected by a Midge Machine to rest for the night).
In addition to the benefits for the animals, we have been troubled less by midges in the garden, near the livestock area, and barbecues have been more fun.
